The trade amount reached $16.5B, with a $9.7B surplus, the highest figure recorded during the association agreement, which surpasses the previous record of $11.9B by 39%, the Institute of Agrarian Economics reported. Poland, Romania, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and Hungary were the main trading partners last year, with 77% of agricultural product’s total domestic trade turnover with the EU. At the same time, Ukraine imported agricultural products from EU member states last year worth about $3.37B. This is almost 17% less than in 2021. The leaders in imports were beverages, mainly alcoholic beverages, for $308M. Also, for the first time, significant volumes of vegetables were imported, totaling $183M. Experts predict that this year the EU will remain Ukraine’s primary partner in foreign agricultural trade owing to the absence of tariffs on products from Ukraine, developed logistics routes, and the lack of alternatives for regional association.
